20th Century Lanes

champs Evan Pendergraft & Tristan Curtis

On an extremely high scoring day, Tristan Curtis and Evan Pendergraft came out on top in exciting JBT Pacific Northwest Conference action at Portland's 20th Century Lanes.

The handicap division recorded the highest 5-game cut in a standard event in our 15 year history, at +105.  Four 300 games were bowled on the day, two of which were by scratch division bowlers.  Marshall Kent opened the day with a perfecto, and Jeremy Witt used his game four 12-bagger to climb to the #4 seed for the stepladder finals, but Tyler Cruz came up with a 267-246 win to defeat him in that round.  Eddy Smith then beat Cruz 215-193.  In the semifinal, Curtis got past Smith 213-202 to reach the title match.

Top seed Jordan Yoke didn't manage any 300s, but did post 299 and 288 efforts to help dominate the event.  Meanwhile, Curtis has shown his ability to win in other JBT Conferences but has yet to break through in the Northwest.  That all changed in a thrilling title match, with Tristan squeezing by 237-235 for the win, the third title of his JBT career.

A handicap bowler rolling a 300 game is fairly rare with us, but two 300s in the same day is extremely rare.  Top seed Evan Pendergraft fired his in game eight, and Vince Bachteler started the tournament off with a 300, and hung on to just qualify for the stepladder finals.  Vince then beat Robert Altieri in round one 226-221.  Dalton Camosso then escaped with a 234-232 win over Bachteler in round two.  An unsurprisingly high scoring semifinals saw Camosso beat Thomas Nute 268-240 to advance against Evan for the win.

Pendergraft has done just about everything in JBT for the past season and a half except win, and he was able to erase that anomaly with a 200-180 title match win over Camosso for his first career JBT title.

Thanks as always to everyone at 20th Century for hosting our Tour.  Over $1,300 in scholarships were awarded to bowlers of all averages.  Want in on the fun?  Come on out to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that, folks!
