Leisure Bowl

champs Nick Lee & Felishia Sevier

Nick Lee and Felishia Sevier captured JBT titles in exciting NM-TX Conference action at Leisure Bowl.

Tim Crites already had the highlight of the day, firing a 300 game in qualifying, his first and the only one of the day, and used it to help him qualify for the finals.  Ryan Scheer almost gave him a taste of his own medicine in round one, however, with a 279-200 win over Crites to advance.  It was Jess Gagliardi's turn for near perfection in round two, as he defeated Scheer 278-164.  Normally we don't talk much about 164 games in scratch JBT action, but it can't go unremarked that this is Scheer's 3rd fourth place finish of the season, and all three of them had 164 as the losing score-- ugh!   In the semifinal match, Aaron Raymond defeated Gagliardi 212-200 to reach his first scratch division title match.

Top seed Nick Lee throws without a doubt the fastest strike ball on Tour, and when he sees a pattern he likes, he can be very tough to beat.  That was certainly the case here, and he dominated the title match for a 253-185 win, and his 4th career JBT title.

Jerimiah Cruz opened the handicap division stepladder finals with a 215-203 win over Jacob Valdez.  Martin Montoya then defeated ruz 215-185, and followed with a 223-220 thriller over Marcos Armijo to advance to the title match.

Top seed Felishia Sevier dominated the event throughout, and remained unstoppable in the title match as well.  Her 238-210 win was good for the second title of her JBT career.

Thanks as always to the crew at Leisure for hosting our events.  Over $1,400 in scholarships were awarded to bowlers of all ages and averages- want in on all this fun?  Simply come on out to the next JBT event, that's all there is to it!
