Jess Gagliardi captured the first of three scratch titles available in a great weekend at Big Rock Casino in exciting JBT NM-TX Conference action
As is usually the case in our scratch-only events, a very demanding condition was laid out for the bowlers, and it took a 5-game -75 score to advance to the semifinals- and that's with 150 bouns pins possible for 5 matchplay wins! Ryan Scheer opened up the stepladder finals with a 194-188 squeaker over Danny Cobine. Scheer then beat TJ Gaudette 225-189, and followed with a 213-190 win over Tim Crites.
This set up a hugely important title match between top seed Gagliardi and Scheer, who are 1-2 in the points race, a big factor in the Go Wireless Bowler of the Year awards. Both players were grinding it out, but a missed bucket from Scheer late gave Jess the room he needed for a 199-191 win and the victory, the 5th title of the talented Colorado bowler's JBT career.
