BOWLIUM
champs Dan Patty & Layla Sefried
Dan Patty and Layla Sefried each enjoyed JBT victory for the first time, in exciting So Cal Conference action hosted by the Bowlium in Montclair.
Chris Kirk from the Pac NW Conference made the trip south a success by opening up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 192-153 win over Arizona's Zach Martinez. Kirk then got by Dan Hansen 192-157, before Dan Patty, visiting from northern California, stopped Kirk 226-173 to reach the title match.
Top seed Mark Curtis had owned this tournament all day, leading 7 of 8 rounds on a tough chameleon pattern. However, it was Patty with by far the better look on the title match pair, and he simply got stronger throughout the match for a 236-192 win and his first career JBT title.
Robert Lim crushed a finger on his right hand in the last game of the semifinals, and it seemed to be a great move, as he threw a big game to make the finals, then won round one of the finals with a 229-210 win over Brooke Martinez. He looked on his way to beating Kyle Andrews in round two, but a tenth frame open resulted in a dramatic 199-198 win for Kyle. Potts then turned the tables on Andrews with an exciting 199-192 win over Andrews to reach the title match.
Top qualifier Sefried was leading a JBT event for the first time, while Potts was in search of career win #3. In the title game, Jacob struggled a bit, while Layla kept filling frames, resulting in a 208-168 win for Sefried and her first career JBT title.
Thanks as always to the crew at Bowlium for hosting us- the center has been beautifully remodeled and is in great shape! Over $1,500 in scholarships were awarded to bowlers age 21 and under of all averages- want in on the fun? Come on out to the next JBT event, it's that simple!
