FOREST LANES

champs Joey Chuo & Jonathan Braun

Joey Chuo and Jonathan Braun were egg-cited (groan!!) to capture JBT titles on Easter Sunday action at Forest Lanes.

DeeRonn Booker's tenth frame 7-10 conversion highlighted a 234-217 victory over Jimmy Hefley to open up the scratch division stepladder finals.  Travis Zehntner then defeated Booker 234-219, and followed with a 211-203 win over Cameron Smith to claw his way up to the title match.

Top seed Chuo, part of the highly-ranked Fresno State Bulldog college bowling team that will be playing for the national title next week, was in control of the title game until a 9th frame 4-9 made things much tighter.  Travis had a chance to go double-9 for the win in the tenth, but the second shot would not carry, and Chuo racked up the third title of his JBT career.

Kyli Selley opened up the handicap division stepladder with a 231-168 win over Vincent Nolan.  A terrific second match saw Braun defeat Selley 237-229.  Jonathan figured he'd probably need a big game to get past red-hot Wesley Low in the semifinals, and he did just that in a 265-231 win to reach his second title match.

Top seed Rance Dvorak was leading a JBT event for the first time, but had trouble getting lined up in the title match,  Despite a shaky start- yes, that's an earthquake joke- Braun had enough left for a 208-177 win, earning his first career JBT title.

Thanks to everyone at Forest for a great job hosting our Tour.  Over $1,500 in scholarships were awarded to bowlers of all averages- want in on all the fun?  Come on down to the next JBT event, it's that simple!
