PAC NW BAKER SHOOTOUT
champs Ian Mackey, Jared McNeal, Brian Yoke, Jordan Yoke, and Tom White
A quintet of Longview bowlers captured the title in the JBT's Pac NW Baker Shootout, hosted by Roxbury Lanes.
5-person Baker, used extensively in high school and especially college bowling, requires teammates to roll two frames each, combining to form one game. This creates a noisy, wonderful atmosphere not found elsewhere in bowling. After 12 games of qualifying, the top 12 teams advanced to best 2-of-3 matchplay. The Triangle Bowl team (Jordan and Brian Yoke, Jared McNeal, Ian Mackey, and Tom White) led the field after 12 games on a very difficult lane condition that produced only 36 200+ games out of the 192 possible.
In the semifinals, against the "Border to Border" team, they were extended to 3 games, but escaped 223-191 to move into the finals. In the other semifinal, a team full of "Plunkett Killers" (sorry, Jordan) were themselves slayed by the 9th-seeded team of self-called Misfits (Anthony Douglas, Adrian Ellison, Evan Pendergraft, Natalie Decker, Austin Gratzer) to set up the finale.
Triangle Bowl won the first game of the finals 188-155, but the Misfits rebounded for a 185-139 game two win to set up the decider. In that game, the momentum flip-flopped again, and Triangle's 181-140 win earned themn the championship. It was the first win for everyone except Jordan, who claimed his 3rd JBT title with the triumph.
Thanks again to everyone at Roxbury for another great job hosting our events. Over $1,100 in scholarships were awarded. Want in on all this fun and excitement? Come on out to the next JBT event, it really is that simple!
