Pacific Lanes

champs Thomas Nute and Brett Scott Jr.

Thomas Nute and Brett Scott Jr. captured their first JBT titles each in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Tacoma's Pacific Lanes.

Josh Baumgardner opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 223-180 win over first-time scratch finalist Sam Burns.  Thomas Nute, another handicap division regular, them beat Baumgardner 204-177.   The next match against Perry Crowell was a strike-a-thon, which Nute won 243-226, to advance to the title match.

Top seed Tristan Curtis had gotten off to a red-hot start in qualifying, and hung on to the top seed for the stepladder.  However, Nute, who had a fantastic season last year but was unable to break through for a title, wiped that anomaly off his record with a 219-205 win and his first JBT victory.

The handicap stepladder finals opened with one of the most entertaining ties in our history.  Kolby Crowell and Tyler Satter each bowled very well to tie their match at 234, and then just kept on striking in the two-frame rolloff, eventually won by Kolby's turkey, 64-56.  Satter rode the momentum from that win to a 229-206 defeat of Zach Hemming, before Evan Pendergraft stopped Satter in the semifinals 245-191, to reach the title game.

Top seed Brett Scott Jr. was having has best JBT performance in a few years, while Pendergraft has been bowling terrifically, knocking on the door of JBT victory numerous times in the last few months.  Unfortunately for Evan, he was to be denied again, as a determined Scott won the title game 236-199 for his first JBT victory.

Thanks as always to the crew at Pacific for a great job hosting our Tour.  Despite a low turnout, our guaranteed prize funds resultedin over $1,000 in scholarships being awarded to bowlers of all ages and averages.  Want in on all the fun?  Come on out to the next JBT events, it's as simple as that!
