BRC PREMIER

champs Billy Dacanay and Cameron Smith

Cameron Smith climbed another rung up our prestigious all-time titles chart, while Billy Dacanay tasted victory for the first time, in exciting JBT So Cal Conference action at BRC Premier Lanes.

Jon Dukes opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 196-171 win over Armando Garcia.  Dukes then came up huge against career JBT earnings leader Kyle King, tossing the last five strikes for a 226-222 win.  Smith then stopped Dukes 224-173 to advance to the title match.

Top seed Devin Bidwell carved apart the demanding chameleon pattern in the semifinals, firing 761 to easily grab the top seed.  However, the talented Smith is at his best when he can play an extremely deep angle on the lanes, and he was able to do just that in a 236-216 win over Devin for the championship.  The title is the 14th of his JBT career, moving him into 9th place on our all-time titles list.

Isaiah Cleveland has been red-hot for a few months, and continued that streak with a 189-164 win over first time finalist Courtney Schultz to open up the handicap division stepladder finals.  Schultz was the highest scratch female qualifier of the day, beating all the girls in the scratch division- nice job!  Cleveland then rolled on in match two with a 208-179 win over Vincent Nolan.  Elias Torres, who made his first finals the day before in doubles, made his singles finals debut a success with a 218-206 win over Cleveland to reach the title match.

Top seed Billy Dacanay, one of the swarm of talented Admiral Robinson bowlers who attend JBT events, had his career-best day to grab the top seed for the finals.  He bowled just as well in the title match, and the 226-213 win over a good effort from Torres resulted in Billy's first career JBT title.

Thanks to the crew at Premier for top-notch job hosting our event.  Over $1,500 in scholarships were awarded to under-22 bowlers of all averages.  Want in on the fun?  Come on out to the next JBT event, it's really that simple!
