CANYON LANES

presented by Felix Chac Chuo Farms Inc.

champs Mark Myers and Mark Hugelmaier (again!)

Mark Myers and Mark Hugelmaier put their marks on the JBT record books, as both won tiltes at Morongo Casino's Canyon Lanes on Sunday to complete a doubleheader sweep, the first time that bowlers have accomplished that in both divisions on the same weekend..

Myers climbed the ladder en route to the scratch division title, beginning with a 257-219 win over Travis Hewitt.  Myers then got by Curtis Lindeman, who also made the top 5 both days this weekend 210-190, and followed with a 214-180 win over DeeRonn Booker to reach the title match.

Top seed Cameron Smith grabbed the lead away in game eight, but must have been feeling deja vu as he had to face Myers for the second consecutive day.  Unfortunately for Cameron, the title match went mush the same way, with Smith getting close enough but not able to close the gap fully.  In the end, Mark earned the 224-193 win, good for the 6th title of his JBT career and the doubleheader sweep.  Amazingly, Myers went 15-1 for his matches over the course of the weekend, well deserving of the titles.

JBT rookie Ryan Breland opened up the handicap division stepladder finals with a 242-170 win over JBT veteran Drew Stern, who is recovering nicely from an arm injury that kept him out through December.  Breland then snuck past Kayla Goad 234-216, before Eric Torrence edged Breland 238-230 to reach the title match.

Top seed Hugelmaier took a much less circuitous route to the title match than Myers, dominating the tournament from game 5 on to easily capture the top seed.  Torrance made a good run at Mark, but a tenth frame Mark from Mark sealed a 235-221 win, and the back-to-back win, the first two titles of his JBT career.  Hugelmaier and Myers each earned $650 on the weekend for the wins, thanks in part to our sponsors, EFX and Felix Chac Chuo Farms, who made this event a big one with over $2,100 in scholarships awarded.

Bryan Rondeau a free JBT entry in our annual Super Bowl contest, coming just one point away from perfection in predicting a 31-24 Green Bay win.

If you want a part of all the great fun we had this weekend, check out our schedule page and come on out to the next JBT event, it really is just that easy!
