champs Cameron Smith & Tyler Wolff

Cameron Smith joined one of the JBT's most elite clubs, while Tyler Wolff joined the JBT champions' club, in exciting Southern California Conference action at Vista Entertainment Center.

Ben Canfield opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 235-204 win over Wesley Low.  Canfield then rolled past Jordan Ferrer, a Nevadan making a successful trip to So Cal, 221-159.  Smith then stopped Canfield 252-226 to advance to the title match.

Smith had been snakebit in 2011 title matches, going winless until finally breaking through in Prescott last weekend.  Two of his finals losses have come at the hands of Mark Myers, who used the event's only 300 game to power into the tournament lead here.  The high-rev bowlers broke down the Dead Man's Curve pattern into a virtual wall, and they each pured every shot.  Only a ringingi-10 and ringing-7 cost Myers the front 9, but Smith outdid even that, leaving only a solid-9  in a 279-243 win, good for the landmark 20th title of his JBT career. , becoming only the sixth bowler in JBT to achieve that enormous accomplishment.

Zoren Hartfield snuck into the 8-bowler stepladder finals with a big game, then shot 231 to win match one over points leader Kayla Goad (170) and Vincent Nolan (178).  Hartfield stepped up even more in match two, firing 270 to eliminate Kyle Andrews (234) and Brooke Martinez (213).  Tyler Wolff's 247 in the semifinal was then enough to stop Hartfield (179) and red-hot KJ Martinez (228), to set up the title match.

Top seed Jake Francisco, part of the always-successful crowd from Admiral Robinson, was looking to win his first JBT title, but so was a determined Wolff, and both bowlers put on a great show.  Jake's 234 scratch wasn't even enough, as Tyler came up with 244 scratch for a 274-257 overall win, and the first title of his JBT career.

Both winners earned an extra $100 for winning with our title sponsor Ebonite's equipment (ironically the 'old' and re-released Game Breakers).  Overall, $2,000 was awarded to all ages and averages- want in on the fun?  Check out our schedule and get out to the next JBT stop you can, it's that simple!
