20th Century Lanes

champs Tristan Curtis & Mitchell Barber

Tristan Curtis kept up his hot streak, while Mitchell Barber tasted JBT victory for the first time, in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Portland's 20th Century Lanes.

A big turnout meant that eight players qualified for the scratch division stepladder finals, and in the first three-way finals match, previous day's champion Tanner Bouwens fired 247 to defeat Eryk Jensen (177) and Cameron Kerlee (143), who defeated Courtney Couch in a two frame rolloff for the last finals spot.

Nevada's Jordan Ferrer rolled 203 in round two, good enough to just get past Bouwens (191) and last season's handicap Bowler of the Year Tyler Satter (190).  Curtis then took over, blasting a 279 in the semifinals to defeat Michael Paulson (210) and Ferrer (178) and advance to the championship game.

Top seed Makayla Douglas destroyed the field en route to the JBT Girls Invitational title in July, and dominated the field here as well, leading 4 girls who made the cut in the open field.  However, Tristan had a great look and was throwing great shots on the title match pair, and by the time the talented Douglas got zeroed in, there wasn't enough frames left to catch up.  In the end, Tristan won the game 244-208 for the title, his second of the season already, and sixth of his JBT career.

Makayla did have a win on the day, defeating Courtney Couch (and avenging her previous day's loss to her) to earn the Women's Series title for the day, the first of three she'll need to qualify for the 2012 All-conference Girls' Championship next summer.

A Pacific Northwest Conference record 94 bowlers shared in over $1,800 in scholarships awarded to all ages and averages.  If you'd like in on the most fun, exciting, and rewarding tournaments around, check out our schedule and come on down to the next JBt event, it's as simple as that!
