BOWL EL PASO

champs Amber Robinson & Joleigh Murphy

It was Ladies' Day in Texas, as Amber Robinson and Joleigh Murphy captured JBT titles in New Mexico-Texas Conference action at Bowl El Paso.

Cameron Smith opened the scratch division stepladder finals by using up his two mulligans to strike out for a 211-205 win over 12 year-old Cortez Schenck.  That was costly, as he ran out of time against Amber Robinson, who won the next match 224-204.  Robinson then rolled past Chris Brown 223-207 to reach the title match.

Top seed Riley Dempsey dominated the tournament from the beginning, but lost the look on the right lane in the title game.  Amber stayed strong throughout and coasted to a 221-184 win over Riley for the title.  The win was the first of her JBT career, and continues a hot streak for our talented scratch girls, as Jory Koizumi won the scratch division six days earlier in Phoenix.

Reanne Quesada kept the trend going in the handicap division by defeating Kory Hetmer 216-172 to open up their stepladder finals.  Murphy then rolled a big game to defeat Quesada 254-201.  Joleigh followed with a 226-198 win over fellow El Paso bowler Luis Cintron 226-198 to reach her first career title game.

Top seed Jonah Seawright also had a dominant tournament, leading seven of the eight rounds.  Some great split conversions kept him alive in the title game, but eventually Murphy was too strong, winning the game 225-202 for the championship, completing the female sweep.

Robinson capped off her breakthrough day with a 163-138 win over Savannah Carr to win the day's Women's Series event, the first of three wins she'll need to qualify for the Girls All-Conference Championship this summer.

Thanks as always to the team at Bowl El Paso for another great job hosting us.   Over $1,200 was awarded to bowlers of all averages- if you want in on all this fun, just check out our schedule and come on down!
