Tyler Stickler earned his first scratch singles title, while Jordan Heard topped the field in ladies' day in handicap, in exciting JBT Pacific Northwest Conference action at Husted's Hazel Dell Lanes.
Points leader Tanner Spacey opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a 220-192 win over Joey Huffman. Stickler then stopped Spacey 221-193, and followed with a 232-189 win over Thomas Nute to reach the title match.
Top seed Josh Mullen is having his best JBT season (including the only PowerBowl win of the season so far), and bowled great all day en route to the #1 spot. Both bowlers had 2 do-overs remaining in the strategically-exciting 'mulligan' format, and the difference in the match turned out to be Mullen having to burn them both mid-game to avoid two stubborn 10-pins. That left Stickler just needing a mark in the tenth to win, which he did to earn the 204-191 win, second career title, and first career singles win.
The girls kicked butt in handicap at this event, with an all-female stepladder finals (defending champ Kolby Crowell was the high guy, finishing sixth). Tessa Friason won round one in style with a huge 278-211 win over Emilee Wolf. Alexa Lanning then turned the tables on Tessa with a big 258-223 win in round two. Michelle Jensen then won the semifinal game 214-201 to advance to the title game.
Top seed Jordan Heard was leading a JBT event for the first time, but you wouldn't know it as she rolled a confident title match, winning the game 250-222 to earn the first title of her JBT career!
The guys campaigned to cancel the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series event as redundant, but they got shouted down and Alexa Lanning beat Correen Lieber 207-182 to win the day's title, the first of 3 Women's Series wins she needs to qualify for the 2012 Girls TPC this July.
