BEDROXX

champs Derek Acuff & Mike Grisham, with Women's Series winner Alexis Atkin

Derek Acuff and Mike Grisham showed how the ladder is climbed in capturing JBT titles in exciting action at Tucson's spectacular Bedroxx.

Acuff began his climb up the scratch ladder with a 231-170 win over Ben Canfield.  The next match against Oscar Chan was one for the record books, as Chan's 269 fell to Acuff's front eleven, but the perfecto bid also fell, to a strange 6-count for the rare 296 game.  The semifinal match against Austin Thompson, who shot 300 earlier for his second perfect game in less than a month, was a great battle, with Derek getting the tenth frame spare for a 236-226 win to move on to the title game.

Top seed Sven Majeske had his best day ever in a JBT singles event, breaking the +300 mark en route to the number one spot.  The finale came down to the last frame, and when Majeske couldn't get the strike he needed, Acuff claimed the 216-203 win, good for the 15th title of his JBT career, moving him into a tie for 11th on the all-time list.

Mike Grisham also climbed the ladder, beginning with a 251-239 win a battle against Alexis Atkin.  Grisham kept the strikes coming in a 242-222 round two win over Christopher Rouse.   Mike then rolled past talented newcomer Marissa Murillo 231-169 in the semifinal to move on to the title game.

Top seed Keith Fung continued his impressive winter/spring with a blistering day that included his highest two games ever in JBT (268 and 269).  However, early open frames doomed his title game, and Grisham took advantage for a 236-209 win, good for a long-awaited first title of his JBT career.

Atkin avenged her loss in the handicap stepladder with a 223-181 win over Murillo to sweep the weekend's Impact Bowling JBT Women's Series events, leapfrogging her into first place in the all-conference girls' points!

Thanks to the crew at Bedroxx for another great job hosting our Tour.  Nearly $3,000 was awarded this weekend alone- want in on the fun?  Come on out the next JBT event, it's that simple!
