        Two veterans added a second title to their collections, in exciting JBT NM-TX Conference action at the venerable Bowl El Paso.

        After a cut to the top half, bowlers competed in two-game total pinfall matches.  Top seed Mason Edmondson defended his seed in his first match, ousting #9 Leo Guzman, but #2 Ben Canfield fell to #7 Cortez Schenck.  Previous day's champ Chris Brown earned the #3 seed, but fell to #6 Ahkeen Williams.  In the resulting semifinals, now single game matches, #5 Cobine upset Edmondson 246-157, while Williams stopped Schenck 204-195 to set up the finale. 

        Cobine lost a title match in a heartbreaker last month in Albuquerque, but stayed in command this time, winning the match 225-183 for the title, the second of his career.

        Josh Franz continued his good bowling on the weekend by grabbing the top seed after qualifying, but ran into a roadblock in #8 Alyvia Quintana, who beat him 409-335 in the two game match.  Cerra Strickland, the #4 seed, beat #11 Taylor Quintana, #2 Kory Hetmer beat #7 Ryann McMurtrie, and #3 Derek Ehlert was upset by #6 Felix Garcia, in the other matches.

        Down to single game semifinal action, Quintana upset Hetmer 208-162, and Strickland stopped Garcia 248-236.  Facing off for the title, Strickland beat Quintana 226-206, capturing the second title of her JBT career.

        Sara Vargas capped off her excellent weekend of bowling by upsetting top seed Amber Robinson 195-191, to win the day's Impact Bowling Women's Series event.  The weekend sweep leaves her just one win shy of already qualifying for the 2013 Girls TPC this summer!
