WILDFIRE LANES
champs Cortez Schenck & Donovin Lusher
Cortez Schenck and Donovin Lusher claimed JBT titles in exciting Mojave Conference action at Henderson's Wildfire Lanes.
Derek Acuff opened up the scratch division stepladder finals with a 227-188 win over Kyle Duster. Eric Hatchett had control in the next match, until ninth and tenth frame opens turned the tables, resulting in a 187-178 win for Acuff. Schenck then rolled the high game of the tournament in stopping Acuff 268-191, advancing Tez to his third straight title match, and simultaneously relegating the frustrated Acuff to his third straight third place finish.
Top seed Jakob Butturff defended his home turf in dominating the field, and Schenck's semifinal win set up another battle in our 1 vs. 2 in all-conference points stars. This time, it was the 13 year-old phenom coming out on top, defeating Butturff 236-191 in the title game for the 12th title of his JBT career. These two incredible talents figure to have a lot more important battles in store in what should be a great season-long battle!
Anthony Dang, currently second in all-conference handicap points, began the handicap stepladder finals with a 223-209 win over California's Marguerite Evans. Greg Adler then stopped Dang 253-217. Vegas' Gabriella Weis then in turn defeated Adler 230-186 to advance to the title match.
Top seed Donovin Lusher was a finalist at the Main Event, and continued his strong bowling at Wildfire as well. He stayed in control in teh title game, eventually winning 240-224 for the first title of his JBT career.
Top seed Megan Carlson defeated fellow Arizonan Marina Stever 175-152 to capture the day's Women's Series event, jumping her back into the all-conference girls points lead.
$1,500 was earned by bowlers of all ages and averages- want in on the fun? Come on out to the next JBT event, it's that simple!
