        Two teams with prior experience in the finals took it a step further, capturing titles in the AZ Doubles Classic, hosted by Bowlmor/AMF Christown Lanes in Phoenix.

        The sharp-dressed team of Riley Dempsey and Curtis Lindeman opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a 243-210 win over the highly decorated team of Jakob Butturff and Steven Black. Riley and Curtis then got by Austin Thompson and all-time female title leader Bryanna Caldwell 214-192.  Ben Canfield and David Sevier then stopped Lindeman and Dempsey 245-227 to advance to the title match.

        Top seeds Cortez Schenck and Chris Klerk have bowled together for a few years, but this was their best result, and they consolidated the #1 spot with a clean game that ended up as a 229-187 win.  It's the 23rd career JBT win for Schenck, and the second for Klerk, whose lone prior JBT title came at Cliff Castle in 2000.

        In a match featuring sibling teams, the Martinez family (KJ and Brooke) beat the Corwins (Jozef anf Katelyn) 209-178 to begin the handicap stepladder finals.  Trevor Thompson and Jake Hilton then got past the Martinez duo by a 174-170 margin.  In another tight match, Irmawati and Nurhidayat edged Hilton and Thompson 175-171 to move on to the finals.

        Dante Rohe and Paul Colyer teamed up to each have their best days of the season and claim the top seed, but could not fins the same groove in the title match.  Chasanah and Syarif, who finished third in this event last season, rolled a great game, eventually winning 189-158 for their first career JBT titles.
