JBT MEMORIAL EVENT at DEER VALLEY

champs Aaron Munyon & Kyle Ponzo

Aaron Munyon had a career day, while Kyle Ponzo added to an excellent season, capturing JBT titles in exciting Arizona Conference action at the annual JBT Memorial Tournament, hosted by Deer Valley Lanes.

Newcomer Austin Muldoon began a terrific run up the handicap division stepladder finals with a thrilling 248-240 win over Ryanna Patterson.  Muldoon then got by Zach Lewandowski, who was returning from some time off, 205-190.  Austin then got by Jake Tucker, a Pac NW bowler who recently relocated to Arizona, 205-190, to advance to the title match.

Top qualifier Ponzo had a big day to capture the tournament lead, but had has hands full against the hard charging Muldoon.  In the end, he had just enough for a 218-206 win, good for the third title of his JBT career.

ASU standout bowler Russ Oviatt opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a 235-197 win over Curtis Lindeman.  Cortez Schenck then came up with a big game to stop Oviatt 266-235.  Bryan Van Sickle then turned the tables on Tez, winning the semifinal match 224-155 to advance to the title match.

Munyon earlier fired a 299 game en route to dominating a JBT event for the first time in his career. He stayed in complete control of the all-Tucson title match as well, beating Van Sickle 258-206 for his first career JBT title.

Heather Penatzer continues to make her mark on the Impact Bowling JBT Women's Series, this time beating Alexis Atkin 263-214 for the day's Women's Series title.

Thanks as always to the team at Deer Valley for hosting our event.  Thanks also to many generous sponsors who added to the day's prize fund to make the Memorial event an extra special one.  Want in on all the fun and excitement?  Just check out our schedule and come on down, that's all there is to it!
