        Ben Canfield and Chris Huglin teamed up to capture JBT titles in the exciting 'mix it up' format, hosted by the beautiful new FlipSide in Gilbert.   

        In 'mix it up', after the usual five game qualifier, the top scratch and top handicap bowlers are paired together to form a doubles team, second with second, and so on, creating some unusual teams, and a cross-division camaraderie that is fun and refreshing.  The stepladder finals were Baker format, and the team of Derek Acuff and Jake Hilton began the finals with a 214-195 win over Bobby Hornacek and Paul Colyer.  Derek and Jake, who had climbed from the #10 spot after qualifying, kept on climbing with a 210-150 win over Oscar Chan and Kristen Lee in match two.  In the semifnals, Cortez Schenck and Zach Rapp stopped Acuff and Hilton 224-190 to advance to the title game.

         Canfield had won his last JBT title less than 24 hours ago here at FlipSide, while his partner Huglin's last JBT win was way back in 2005.  They got off to a fast start in the title game, and when an ugly solid-9 from Schenck stopped Cortez and Zach's comeback, Ben and Chris locked up the eventual 209-182 win.  It's Canfield's 11th career title and fourth of the young season, while Huglin claims his second, only eight years later!

        Lee had better luck in the Impact Bowling Women's Series match,. defeating top seed Corren Lieber 206-178 for the title, the second of three wins she needs to get into the 2014 Girls TPC next summer.
