SOUTH PLAINS LANES
champs Mason Edmondson & Krysta Carlisle
Mason Edmondson and Krysta Carlisle captured JBT titles in exciting New Mexico-Texas Conference action at South Plains Lanes in Lubbock.
William Yoder, who took advantage of absences from other point leader competition to grab the points lead, improved his standing even more with a 248-210 win over first-time finalist Levi Fintel to begin the scratch division stepladder finals. Yoder then got past Bree Vargas 233-196. Brandon Jaramillo then stopped Yoder 247-209 to reach his first career scratch division title match.
Top seed Mason Edmondson returned to form with a dominant performance here, and struck enough to wisely save the 'mulligans' he had earned during the tournament. It turned out he didn't need them as Jaramillo struggled early, and in the end Mason cruised to a 235-164 win, and the 5th title of his JBT career.
Lacey Shelton began an impressive run up the handicap division stepladder with a 257-251 win over Kat Rush. Shelton then defeated Kyle Salazar, who made his third straight finals, 220-188. She really turned it up the next game, rolling past Gerilynn Delegarito 291-213.
Top seed Krysta Carlisle and Shelton are good friends, but there's no time for friendship on the lanes. Despite being in her first title match, Carlisle came up with an excellent game, defeating Shelton 235-208, earning her first JBT title.
Vargas' excellent day was capped off with a Women's Series win, as she and Correen Lieber tied at +96 in qualifying, but with Bree winning the title game 246-213.
