20th CENTURY LANES

champs Nick Devlin & Cameron Nodland

Nick Devlin and Cameron Nodland added another JBT title to their collections at 20th Century Lanes in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action.

Semifinalists competed in head to head matchplay, and Nick Devlin, who dominated the qualifying round, looked just as dominant there, earning a one round bye, and then defeating #8 Ryan DeFazio, keyed by a 280 middle game, to advance to the final four.  #2 seed Brandon Jensen didn't fare as well, falling to #7 Gabe Bogner in the quarterfinals.  In single game semifinal matches, Devlin beat #4 Daniel Hanson 259-185, while Bogner stopped #6 Brian Monnette 258-194 to set up the title match.

Nick recovered from a slow start opening weekend with a runner-up finish the day before, but was determined to finish even higher today.  He accomplished that with a 230-210 title match win over first-time finalist Bogner, earning the fourth title of his JBT career, and first of his Bowler of the Year defense.

Cameron Nodland enjoyed similar domination as Devlin in the handicap division, rolling to the top seed and getting by #16 Alex Perini and #9 Hannah Russell to reach the semifinals.  However, Andy Herrmann was making big noise on the other side of the bracket, defeating Bailey Peters and rolling 279 scratch to oust Brenden Hopkins to reach the semis.  In the one game semifinal matches, Andy was at it again, firing 278 scratch to beat Sara Harris.  Meanwhile, Cameron had to play his brother Brandon, and just escaped in the sibling rivalry 214-210 to move on to the title game.

After all of Hermann's striking, he couldn't maintain the momentum in the title game, and Nodland took advantage, winning the title game 227-197, for the second title of his JBT career.

Kelsey Abrahamsen became the fourth different Women's Series winner in as many Pac NW events this season, getting by Elise Yates 213-184 for the day's title.

Thanks as always to everyone at 20th Century for another great weekend.  Want in on the best bowling fun around?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
