Alayna Purdy and Kyle Duster earned JBT titles in exciting Mojave Conference action at The Orleans.
Dallas Leong opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a 206-164 win over Derek Acuff. Wesley Low then ousted Dallas Leong in the match of the day, 258-256. Cortez Schenck then stopped Low in a match of Junior Gold champions, 243-213, to advance to the title match.
Top qualifier Kyle Duster had the best look all day on the challenging pattern, and his tenth frame double shut out Schenck, with the 235-207 final score good for his 8th career JBT title.
It was Devyn Patalina vs. the ladies in the handicap finals, and he survived round one with a 217-166 win over Abby Franklin. Purdy then put an end to the guys' day with a 232-201 win over Patalina. Alayna then beat Crystalene Pineda 238-187 to get to the title game.
Marguerite Evans kept up her torrid streak of late by grabbing the top seed here. However, it was Purdy who came up with the bigger game in the title match, winning 234-223 to capture the first title of her JBT career.
Pineda was consoled from her loss in the main tournament by defeating Randi Speiler 215-193 to capture the day's Women's Series event.
