champs Cortez Schenck & Dante Rohe

        Two Arizona veterans added titles to their collections, wrapping up an exciting weekend of action at the Bowlium in Montclair.

        Joe Grondin opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a 227-190 win over Kyle Reed.  Schenck then took over, blasting the last eleven strikes in a 290-169 win over Grondin.  The lanes transitioned a bit in the next match evidently, and Schenck had to grind out a 184-146 win over Richard Paul III to move on to the title match.

        Top seed Eric Hatchett had taken over the event in the semifinals, and came out striking in the title match.  Unfortunately for Eric, Cortez re-found the look he had earlier in the stepladder, and matched him all the way.  A late-frame 9-count was all it took for Hatchett to find himself in a hole he couldn't dig out of, and his 255 was only good for a hard-luck loss as Schenck fired a 277 to lock down the victory, the 61st of his amazing JBT career.

        Zach Greim and Dante Villa engaged in a thriller in round one of the handicap stepladder, with Greim escaping 232-231.  Dante Rohe then stopped Greim 190-184, then got past Lawrence Buhain 225-219 to reach the title match.

        Top seed Joey Queller had another great JBT event to earn the #1 spot, but Rohe, red hot and coming off his first major win the week before, was not to be denied in this match.  He defeated Queller 237-191, earning the 4th title of his JBT career.
