ISLETA FUN CONNECTION

champs Brandon Jaramillo, Amelia Fasting, and Jacob Marquis

Top seeds were impressive in showing why they held the number one spots, winning JBT titles in exciting action at Isleta Fun connection.

Prior to the #1 seed's dominance, two bowlers made equally impressive runs up the stepladder finals.  In the scratch division, it was Chris Ortega, who began with a 223-206 win over Ben Stedman.  Next up was Chris' brother Angel, and Chris gave big bro no chance in this one, as he flushed twelve balls in the pocket for a perfect 300 game, the only one of the day, to beat Angel's 188.  Lots of bowlers have a letdown after their first 300, but Ortgea stayed dominant, this time beating Blayne Hurst 245-219 to advance to the title match,

Brandon Jaramillo enjoyed the top seed for the first time in his JBT career, and showed why he was there, filling frames and catching strings when he could.  Chris finally lost the momentum in the second half of the title game, and the 215-170 final score was good for the first title of Jaramillo's JBT career.

Newcomer Carlos Torrez Jr. also put on a spectacular performance in the finals, winning round one of the handicap division with a 233-227 thriller over fellow rookie Rebekah Hastings.  Torres then ousted recent champ Nathan Nguyen 243-205, and followed with a 219-208 win over Nathaniel Duran, another recent winner, to move on to the title game.

Jacob Marquis has been bowling great lately, and this time he was determined to finish off the day with win.  He did it in style, throwing his high game of the day in a 280-214 win over Torrez, good for his third career JBT title.

Amelia Fasting made a successful return to the NM-TX Conference, defeating Morgan Ellis 220-175 for the day's girls title.
