MILWAUKIE BOWL

champs Tommie McNeal & Wendy Jo LaTurner with Kelsey Abrahamsen, Jerry Jennings, AJ Schock, & Isaac Mailkoff

Tommie McNeal and WendyJo LaTurner survived a challenging format to earn JBT titles in exciting JBT Pacific Northwest Conference action at historic Milwaukie Bowl.

Jerry Jennings qualified first for the scratch division's matchplay, but fell to McNeal in one semifinal.  In the other semi, AJ Schock and Kelsey Abrahamsen, who square off all the time in Girls Scratch (and would again today), faced each other in the main scratch division, and AJ came up with the win to advance.

Schock won her first scratch title in the 'mix it up' format last month, and remained hot looking for a singles scratch win.  However, McNeal was too tough, beating Schock 229-193, for the fourth title of his JBT career.

Joe Brooks, coming off a win the day before, rocketed to the lead again in qualifying, but #16 Colt Jance upset him in round one of matchplay.  Jance reached the semifinals, but #4 Isaac Mailkoff stopped him there 255-178 to reach the finals.  On the other side of the bracket, #2 Seth Chilcutt, the runner-up the day before, almost got to back-to-back title games, but LaTurner stopped him 235-187 to move on to the finale.

The title game was low-scoring, and in the end Wendy Jo got the tenth frame spare she needed for a 182-176 win and her firts career JBT title.

Jennings loss in the main tournament was salved with a 249-211 win over Bardley Baltazar in the U17 side event.  The Girls Scratch finale wrapped up the event, and Schock dominated this iteration of their terrific rivalry, winning 245-193 for the day's win.

Big thanks as always to the Husted family and their team at Milwaukie for hosting our Tour.  Want in on all this fun?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
