AMF PEORIA

champs Nick Devlin & Sebastian Polhill; girls scratch & U17 winners Brittany Kolatzny & Cristian Roque

Nick Devlin piled on another win, while another veteran finally won his second, in exciting JBT Arizona Conference action at AMF Peoria Lanes.

The scratch division finals began with another edition of the Duster vs. Zweig show, and this one was a classic, as Kyle managed to go five-bagger, gutter-spare, sheet to force Matt to double, which he couldn't do, giving Duster a 227-226 win.  Cortez Schenck then came up with a huge game on a tough pattern to stop Kyle 267-199.  Cortez followed with a 203-189 win over Sergio Torres to move on to the title match.

Top seed Nick Devlin took over in game five and cruised to the number one spot, but it's never easy to win that one game title match, especially against the prolific Schenck.  In the tenth frame, Devlin got exactly the count he needed (that being four, oddly enough) to make Cortez strike for the win.  Schenck liked his shot, but a 4-pin stood, and Nick squeaked out the 220-214 win for his 16th career JBT title.

Emily Frerichs opened the eight-bowler handicap stepladder with a low scoring win over Marguerite Evans and CJ Todeschi.  Frerichs was up to the task in round two as well, getting by veterans Clifford Robbins and Elijah Melchor to reach the semifinals.  Her run ended there though, as Sebastian Polhill came up with a clean 191 game for 227 handicap to eliminate Emily, and also stop a fantastic run from 7 year-old newcomer Brayden Sherman, to reach the title game.

Top seed Jacob Soulliere was resurgent, rebounding from some tough performances last season to look impressive and gain the #1 spot this time around.  However, Sebastian, whose last (and only) win was back in 2011 in Seattle when he was just 6 years old, was not to be denied.  He stayed clean through the next nine frames as well on a very challenging pattern, and when he finally opened in the tenth, he had already sealed a 217-183 win over Soulliere, earning the second title of his JBT career.

In a battle of two veterans, Californian Brittany Kolatzny claimed the day's girls side event with a win over Amanda Atkin.  The U17 win was claimed by Cristian Roque, who ousted Michael Chamot in a battle of bowlers who call host center Peoria home.

Big thanks to the crew at Peoria for a great job hosting us, as well as the large turnout of Peoria house bowlers that gave our Tour a try.  Want in on all this fun?  Just check out our schedule and come on down to the next JBT event!
