RED ROCK LANES

U17 winner Cerell Cardines, champs Cortez Schenck & April McDonnell

Cortez Schenck and April McDonnell opened the 2016-17 JBT Mojave Conference season with wins in exciting action at Las Vegas' beautiful Red Rock Lanes.

Kennison Andrews began the scratch division stepladder finals with a 205-164 win over Ryan Lee.   Schenck then beat Andrews 237-171 to move on to the title game.

Top seed Cerell Cardines was brilliant all day, and he and Cortez, the top two point scorers from last season, picked up right where they left off, and engaged in a wonderful title match.  Tied in the tenth, Cardines went 9-spare-9, but Schenck countered with a flush strike, keying the 234-224 win, good for the 81st title of his JBT career.  Yes, 81.

Dillon O'Neil began a climb up the handicap stepladder with a 216-209 win over his buddy Zack Velosa.  Dillon then got the spare in the tenth he needed for a 230-221 win over Rieley Ulanday to advance to the title game.

Top seed April McDonnell worked hard all summer with Wendy MacPherson and boy did it pay off today, averaging over 200 in qualifying and coasting to the top seed.  She was just as good in the title match, defeating O'Neil 244-206 for the long awaited first title of her JBT career.

McDonnell's day was completed with a 213-202 win over Kaylee Am-Khong for her first girls scratch title.  Cardines was consoled with the U17 win, beating Cristian Roque 242-212 for the crown.

Thanks as always to Eric and the team at Red Rock for a great job hosting us! Want in on all teh fun for all ages and averages?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
