SOUTH PLAINS LANES

champs Zach Wojciechowski & Josie Herson (center) with girls winner Aileen Linares & U17 winner Daniel Hall

Wojo continued his early-season mojo, while Josie Herson won her first title, in exciting JBT Texas-New Mexico Conference action at Lubbock's South Plains Lanes.

Bradley Edwards opened the scratch division stepladder finals with a grindout of a win, 176-166 over Josh Demick, on the very challenging Badger lane pattern.  Stefan Wood then stopped Edwards 182-170.  Defending champion Carson Opela then stepped in with a much better look, but Wood found the line also, and the exciting 236-216 win moved Stefan on to the title match.

Top seed Zach Wojciechowski, a winner already this season at Holiday, was in fine form today, leading most of the day, but saving his best for last, blasting 7 of the first 8 strikes en route to a 258-210 win over Wood, and the fourth title of his JBT career.

Donius Jeffries, who earlier became the second person to win our new "21" game for a quick $100 bonus, kept the fun going with a front-six, 257-222 win over Lara Wood to begin the handicap stepladder finals.  Josie Herson then began a tear up the ladder, beating DJ scratch in a 225-168 win.  She did it again in the semifinals, needing no handicap to beat Lindsey Sanchez 225-168 to move up to the title game.

Top seed Kambree Rogers was wonderful all day in her second JBT event to take over the number one spot.  However, Herson was on the roll of her JBT career, and showed no signs of stopping.  This time she was giving the handicap, but it didn't matter, as she rolled to a 224-189 win, and the first title pf her JBT career.

Daniel Hall swept the U17 events on the weekend, this time with a win over Jeffries.  His third win makes him the first bowler eligible for the U17 TPC in July.  Aileen Linares, who made both regular scratch division cuts, won the day's girls event.

Big thanks as always to the team at SPL for another great hosting job.  Want in on all the fun for all ages and averages?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
