        Nick Devlin and Lauren Jaramillo outstruck the competition, capturing titles in exciting JBT NM-TX action at Starlight Lanes in Bernalillo.

        The ten scratch semifinalists went a combined +2381 for their seven games of qualifying, including a 225 average required just to make that first cut.  Scoring remained high in the stepladder finals, beginning with Christian Apolonio beating Kellen Lavery 258-227.  Nick Devlin then turned the tables on Christian, winning 263-224 to move on to the title match.  Against good friend and top seed Harley Sweigart, scores were lower, with Nick emerging victorious by a 229-190 margin, earning the 17th title of his JBT career and extending his lead against Harley in the head to head title total battle.

        Reigning handicap division Bowler of the Year Donius Jeffries II began the handicap division stepladder with a 217-185 win over Taylor Herson.  Lauren Jaramillo then escaped from Jeffries by the narrowest of margins, winning 209-208 to move up to the title game.  In that match, top seed Jacob Marquis, who had been brilliant all day, struggled a bit, and the resulting 229-190 victory for Lauren was good for a long awaited first career JBT title.

        Marquis loss was assuaged by a win in the U17 side event, beating Nathan Nguyen 209-145 for that crown.  Vanessa Romero earned the girls scratch win, getting past Jaramillo 192-183 for the win.
