YOUTH NEW MEXICO OPEN

champ Will Davis (center) with runners-up Jake Helmick & Cole Poswiatowski

Will Davis of Artesia dominated the Youth New Mexico Open to earn his first career JBT title.

After leading qualifying, which earned him the EBI ball of his choice, courtesy of Chad Lusche (thank you Chad!), he cruised through elimination rounds, leading with 383 for two in the semifinals.  Cole Poswiatowski (369) and Jake Helmick (353) joined him in teh finals, while Deo Benard and Vanessa Romero were eliminated in fourth and fifth.

The lane condition was so demanding that the simultaneous adult New Mexico Open had its first minus cut in years, but Davis continued to roll in the one game title match.  His 221 was plenty good against Helmick (164) and Poswiatowski (150) to earn teh $750 top scholarship prize, made possible by a generous contribution from host center Tenpins & More.  Helmick earned $500 for second, and Poswiatoski's $250 for third was doubled as the high under-180 finisher.
