CAL BOWL

champs Harley Sweigart & Lindsay Greim with Lexi Cassman, Solomon Salama, Emily Schrider

Harley Sweigart and Lindsay Greim captured JBT titles in exciting Southern California Conference action at Cal Bowl in Lakewood.

After five qualifying games on a tricky pattern, bowlers moved on to matchplay.  Youngster Joshua Abigania was brilliant in grabbing the top seed.  He got past Nick Caner in round one, but veteran Harley Sweigart stopped him in the semifinal.  On the other side of the bracket, Cerell Cardines stopped Ryan Lee, setting up an all-star title game.  In the finale, Sweigart made a brave ball and line change to something he hadn't used all day, and it paid off big time, as he rolled to the win and picked up the 46th title of his JBT career.

The handicap division matchplay bracket featured top seed carnage, as both top seed Elias Luna and #2 Stephanie Hong fell in their first round matches.  Down to four remaining, #4 Lindsay Greim stopped #8 Adrian Yamanoha, and #10 Emily Schrider escaped from #6 Cyruss Tehrani due to a stunning tenth frame open to set up the all-ladies finale.

Lindsay saw big brother Zach get on a hot streak early this year, and she has now followed suit, doing her best bowling of the season right now, and capping it off with a 200 scratch game in a big win over Schrider for the second title of her JBT career.

Solomon Salama earned yet another U17 win with a win over Abigania, while Lexi Cassman earned her first Priority Girls Scratch win with a victory over Avery Domaguin.

Big thanks to the team at Cal for their usual great job hosting us.  Want in on all the fun for all ages and averages?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
