CANYON LANES

champs Harley Sweigart & Autumn Barnes; Katelyn Abigania, Daniel Hong; Zach Greim

Harley Sweigart kept up his winning ways, while Autumn Barnes tasted victory for the first time, in exciting JBT Southern California Conference action at Canyon Lanes at Morongo Casino.

Sweigart defeated top seed Marquan Rivers in one scratch semifinal 170-163, ahile Daniel Hong got by Ryan Lee 197-191 in the other, with scores indicative of the day's challenging pattern.  First time finalist Hong put up a great comeback in the ensuing title match, but Sweigart made a brilliant veteran move to the left in the final game, finding a much better look and rolling to a 216-191 win, good for the 45th title of his JBT career.

Scores were tame but matches were exciting in the handicap division as well, as Barnes edged Preston Carrasco 195-187 in one semifinal, while Adrian Yamanoha squeezed by Josh Karney 194-192 in the other, to set up the title match.  In the finale, Adrian lost the look on the tricky pair, while Barnes put up one of her better scores in a 212-177 win, good for the first title of her JBT career- glad she stuck around.

Katelyn Abigania continued to dominate the Priority Girls Scratch subdivision, beating Kaylee Am-Khong 212-177 for that victory.  Hong did get a win on the day, getting past Solomon Salama 226-166 for the U17 win.

Big thanks to the retiring guru of Canyon, Norris Runnels, and his team at Canyon, for their usual great hosting job on a pouring rain day in So Cal.  Want in on the fun?  Check out our schedule and come on down!
