CANYON LANES

champs Garrett Lee & Christian Cruze; Elias O'Hollaren, Kyler Orosco, Josh Karney, Hailey Shepherd; Katelyn Abigania

Garrett Lee and Christian Cruze claimed JBT titles in exciting Southern California Conference action at Morongo Casino's Canyon Lanes.

Lee began a climb up the scratch division stepladder with a 203-159 over first-time scratch finalist Elias O'Hollaren.  Lee then got by an 8-count plagued Kyle Gilbert 211-181 to reach the title game.

Top seed Kevin Banaag was brilliant in the 'sprint' semifinal round to claim the #1 spot, but Garrett ran the front five to open the title match.  Kevin made a brave comeback attempt, but ran out of frames, as Lee won the game 219-204 to claim teh third title of his JBT career (and second consecutive Sunday win!).

The handicap stepladder finals featured outstanding performances from all finalists, starting with a 295-251 win by Josh Karney over Emily Cheesman.  The red-hot Karney, making his third straight top-4, then beat Hailey Shepherd 253-241 to advance to the title match.

Top seed Christian Cruze was in control the entire tournament, and stayed that way in the final game, rolling to a confident 20-227 decision over Karney to earn the first title of his JBT career.

Katelyn Abigania swept the weekend's Priority Girls Scratch events, this time beating Cheesman for the win.  Kyler Orosco earned his first U17 subdivision win with a 225-207 decision over O'Hollaren.

David Schneider broke a long perfecto-drought in So Cal with a 300 game in qualifying, earning the whopping $500 MSC 300 game jackpot bonus- thank you so much MSC!

Big thanks also to the team at Canyon for another great hosting job.  Want in on all the fun for all averages?  Just check out our schedule and come on down!
