MOJAVE INVITATIONAL

champs Allex Zieg & Cameron Criss; Harley Sweigart, April McDonnell, Zach Greim, Lindsay Greim, Faythe Reid

Allex Zieg and Cameron Criss emerged from tough fields as champions of the 2019 JBT Mojave Invitational, held at Texas Star Lanes in North Las Vegas.

After qualifying, the top 16 bowlers then competed in triple elimination matchplay, a ten-round slug fest.  Top seed Zieg dominated qualifying, then had to stay alive by beating Josh Abigania in round eight.  In the same round, Harley Sweigart eliminated Zach Greim, giving himself a bye in the next round.  Zieg eliminated Abigania in the resulting semifinal, setting up a one game match for the title.  In that final, Zieg continued the best bowling of his JBT career, beating Sweigart and earning the title, his second, and $1,000 top prize.

The board broke down the same way in the handicap division, as Faythe Reid stayed alive by beating Cameron Criss, while LIndsay Greim both eliminated Darren Fletcher and earned a bye in the process.  Cameron eliminated Faythe in the semifinal that followed, and would play Lindsay in a one game final.  The match came down to the tenth frame, and when Greim couldn't get the double she needed, Criss emerged as champion, good for a $1,000 payday and his third career JBT title.

April McDonnell capped off a great season in the Priority Girls Scratch division with a win over up and coming Vanessa Fuzie for a $200 bonus, while Greim added $200 more to his excellent weekend with a win over TJ Rock for the U17 title.

Tremendous thanks as always to Jerry, Marshall, and the team at Texas for all their hospitality.  The top 20 in points now advance to the TPC, our most prestigious event, featuring $2,000 top scholarship prizes.
