NARROWS PLAZA BOWL
champs Tommie McNeal & Ashley Nelson with finalists; a good day for the Sicards
Tommie McNeal and Ashley Nelson claimed JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Narrows Plaza Bowl.
A fierce winter storm limited entries, but intrepid folks who showed still displayed their skills on a tricky pattern. Simon Dyck won round one of the scratch finals 207-196 over first-time finalist Kalym Henry. Dyck then beat Aidghan Ziegler to get to the title game.
Top seed Tommie McNeal lost the lead in the semifinals, then responded with 536 for his next two to roar to the lead. Unfortunately for Simon, it was deja vu for him in this game, as in the rematch from last month's final, Tommie again beat Dyck, this time 206-169, to win the 8th title of his JBT career.
Noah Sicard opened the handicap stepladder with a 195-186 win over Mikayla Bumpus. In an all-Sicard semifinal, big sister Mary stopped Noah 229-184, to advance to the finals.
Top seed Nelson led almost the entire day, and capped off the brilliant performance with a 229-213 win over Sicard to earn her first JBT title.
Bud Sicard kept the great day for the family going with a 193-178 win over Bradley Baltazar for the U17 win, while Nelson swept her events with a 156-141 win over WendyJo LaTurner for the Priority Girls Scratch win.
Big thanks to the staff at Narrows for allowing the event to happen on a wintry day, and everyone who chose to attend. Want in on all the fun? Check out our schedule and come on down!
