MAHONEY'S SILVER NUGGET champs Nathan Panaligan and Casey Bybee Nathan Panaligan put an exclamation point on a dominant fall stretch, while Casey Bybee captured his first victory, in JBT SW action at Mahoney's Silver Nugget. The scratch division finals opened with Brandon Allred bowling much more than All-right in a 246-167 win over Gold Coast champ Cameron Smith. Justin Spurrier then turned the tables on Brandon, stringing strikes for a 242-204 win. In the semifinals, first time scratch finalist Chris Kagawa defeated Spurrier 226-205 to advance to the title match. Kagawa made the switch to scratch early last season, and has been getting better and better, so it was great to see him finally break through at this event. However, top qualifier Nathan was not about to let him complete the Cinderella story. "Nader" lapped the field all day during qualifying, and then captured his 3rd season and 5th career title with a 197-178 win over Chris. The handicap division finals belonged to Bybee, who snuck into the top 5, and then climbed the ladder to win his first career title. Casey began with a 233-209 win over Arizonan Bethany Baker in round tone. He then defeated Handicap all-conference points leader Cameron Peck 223-217, and followed with a 235-173 win over red-hot Alesha Pannier to advance to the title match. Top seeded Allie Ijams is yet another red-hot female on our Tour right now, reaching her second title match in three weeks. However, in the title match, mighty Casey struck out-- but in all the right ways, rolling a big 266 to defeat a fine 219 effort from Allie, good for his first JBT SW title. Everyone who finished in the top 5 qualifies for the 2006 JBT SW Mojave Invitational Tournament, the regular season's year end event, featuring a guaranteed minimum $1,000 first place scholarship in each division. Top season-long point scorers also qualify for the 2006 JBT SW Touring Players' Championship, featuring a guaranteed minimum $2,000 first place scholarship per division!
