Texans Sam Cuevas and Leo Guzman wrapped up big wins at Big Rock in exciting JBT TX-NM Conference action.

William Entsminger opened the scratch division of the stepladder finals with a 200-191 escape over Randy Cote when Cote left a solid-10 on his second ball in the tenth.  Stephen Gaucin then came on to defeat Entsminger 247-206, and followed with an exciting 242-222 win over Michael Cross to reach the title match.

Top qualifier Cuevas then took on Gaucin in a battle of two of our most accurate bowlers.  In the match, it was Sam with the hot hand, and he cruised to a 246-193 win, good for his fifth career JBT title.

In a close opening match for the handicap stepladder, Travis Turner's 210 was just enough to beat Weston Marton (207) and Billy Read (170).  Turner then shot a 224 to beat Jacob Sanchez (207) and Jessica Palma (171) in round two.  In a nailbiting round three, Guzman's 209 edged Turner (203) and Koby Bicknell (197) to reach the finale.

Top qualifier Ryan Scheer is off to a very hot start this season, and continued his roll by leading this event.  However, a determined Guzman rolled an outstanding game, beating Scheer 244-197 for his first career JBT title.

 Everyone who finished in the top 5 qualifies for the 2007 JBT NM-TX Invitational Tournament, the regular season's year end event, featuring a guaranteed minimum $1,000 first place scholarship in each division.  Top season-long point scorers also qualify for the 2007 JBT Touring Players' Championship, featuring a guaranteed minimum $2,000 first place scholarship per division!
