AMF McRAY
champs Kyle King & Matt Erb
Kyle King and Matt Erb claimed McVictories in exciting JBT McAction at AMF McRay Lanes.
King climbed the ladder to capture his sixth career JBT title. He opened with a 258-175 win over Brandon Watts. Kyle then followed with a 195-183 squeaker over Kevin Saunders, and then beat DeShaun Jefferson 259-190 to reach the title match.
Top seed Chris Weyrauch locked up an Invitational exemption by leading the field, as did King. Although Chris had caught Kyle, the qualifying leader, with an excellent semifinal round, it was King who had regained all the momentum heading into the title match. In the end, Kyle's 212-183 victory was good for his third win of the season, one each in the Arizona, So Cal, and Mojave Conferences.
Californian Mike May opened the handicap division stepladder finals with a 239-213 win over Joey Longo. May then defeated Andrew Dorsey 251-171, before Andrew's big sister Amy then avenged the Dorsey family by defeating May 203-196 to reach her second career title match.
Top seed Matt Erb caught fire in the semifinal rounds, in an almost exact repeat from his win earlier this season in Green Valley. And, just like that day, he continued to be unstoppable in the title match, rolling past Dorsey 245-182, for his second title of the season and third of his JBT career.
We hope everyone who attended had a great time, and will spread the word about the great benefits of bowling JBT. The field is now set for the 2007 JBT Arizona Invitational Tournament, the regular season's year end event, featuring a guaranteed minimum $1,000 first place scholarship in each division. Top season-long point scorers also qualify for the 2007 JBT Touring Players' Championship, featuring a guaranteed minimum $2,000 first place scholarship per division!
Big thanks everyone at McRay, and their Sportstop Pro Shop, for another fine job hosting our event. Over $2,100 in scholarships were awarded. Want in on the fun? Come on out to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
