HOLIDAY BOWL
champs Jess Gagliardi and Brandon Gill
Jess Gagliardi and Brandon Gill were the ultimate survivors in capturing JBT titles in exciting New Mexico-Texas Conference action at Holiday Bowl.
In our survivor format, after five qualifying games, the field is cut in half and an equal number of people are put on each pair. After each game, the low score on each pair is eliminated, and this continues until only one survivor remains, providing non-stop thrilling action throughout the center.
In the scratch division, the field was eventually carved down to six. In that round of matches, Gagliardi eliminated Bill Grant 203-191, Nathan Shock beat Geoffrey Young 193-172, and William Entsminger defeated Mike Cross 206-158.
In the three-way semifinal match, Gagliardi remained strong with 214, and Entsminger survived with 177, while Shock bowed out in third with 167.
In a rare battle of non-winners, it was Gagliardi who emerged with his first JBT title, conquering the tough conditions and Entsminger with a 211-177 win.
The handicap division was also eventually whittled down to six bowlers. In the high scoring round that ensued, Gill beat Olivia Silva 243-218, William Yoder beat Reanne Quesada 231-22, and John Yoder eliminated Peter Cane 260-238.
This set up a match where Gill faced two Yoders in a three way battle. Gill's 209 was enough to survive, as was William's 216, but his cousin John's 184 was the low score, so he finished up in third.
Brandon remained in control in the title match, winning the game 224-202, good for his first career JBT title, while Yoder matched his career high finish with the runner-up performance.
Big thanks to Gary
Skidmore, and everyone else at Holiday for a great job
hosting our Tour for the first time in quite a while- the newly remodeled center
looks great, check it out!
Wanna get in on the fun? Come on down to the next JBT event, it's as
simple as that!
