BJ Baker continued his early-season dominance, while Kyle Karpovich captured his second career title, in exciting JBT Arizona Conference action at BRC Kyrene.

Baker qualified 4th for the scratch division stepladder finals, and ran the ladder for the win.  He began with a 225-170 win over Californian Forrest Holland in match one.  BJ then blasted 11 strikes for a 279-168 win over Greg Garbera, and followed that up with 9 more in the next match, a 243-199 win over Kyle King.

Top qualifier WIll McPherson shot a big 290 as part of a 748 semifinal burst to secure the top seed for the first time in his JBT career.  However, facing Baker, who already won both the AZ and So Cal season openers, proved to be too much this time, as BJ poured on late strikes for a 222-189 win, the 24th title of his JBT career.

Jay Prewitt, who became the early handicap division All-Conference points leader by making the ladder, opened round one of the finals with a 240 game that beat Jon Pletcher's 218 and Shawn Peters' 204.  In round two, Prewitt doubled in the tenth for a 232 game to edge Kristen Lee (227) and Danielle Stewart (184).  In another close semifinal match, Kaitlin Mayall's 229 was enough to defeat Dennan Boscarino (224) and Prewitt (175), and she advanced to the finals.

Top seed Kyle Karpovich, the 2006 Main Event champ, was back in the title match for the first time since, then, and engaged in a hard fought battle with a determined Mayall.  In the end, Kyle earned a 240-222 victory and his second career triumph.
