MILWAUKIE BOWL
champs Cameron Weier & Brittany Ardnt
Cameron Weier, Federal Way WA, and Brittany Arndt, Portland OR, captured JBT titles in exciting Pacific Northwest Conference action at Milwaukie Bowl.
Thomas Nylund, Kent WA, opened the handicap division stepladder finals with a 246-183 win over Brett Hall, Buckley WA. Arndt then took over, defeating Nylund 218-205, and following with a 233-141 win over current Pac NW points leader Megan Page of Covington WA, to reach the title match.
Top seed Brett Scott Jr. was enjoying his most successful JBT event ever, but had trouble finding the pocket in the title match. So was Arndt, but her brooklyn hits were carrying perfectly, as she ran the back five, all on the left side, and ran away with the 227-188 win and her first career JBT title.
Jordan Plunkett, Everett WA, continued his recent hot streak by defeating Lucas Stone, Tigard OR, 183-167, in round one of the scratch stepladder finals. #3 seed Weier then took over, ousting Plunkett 209-141, and then made the tricky end pair look easy with a 280-161 win over 2007 Pac NW Invitational champ Todd Hopfner of Sumner, WA.
Vancouver's Rob Edwards grabbed the top seed for the finals, nothing new for the defending Pac NW Bowler of the Year and current points leader. However, while Rob struggled with his carry, Weier remained on a roll, and cruised to a 218-183 win. The title was the first of the season and second of Weier's career.
A high-scoring qualifying round was highlighted by a 300 game from Jake Klemsen, Milwaukie OR, his first in JBT competition. Cameron picked up an extra $100 for winning the event with equipment from our title sponsor Ebonite, for a $356 total on the day!
