Champs Kyle King & Jenny Phandanouvong

    Kyle King continued a red hot start to the 08-09 JBT season, while Jenny Phandanouvong were her 2nd career title, in exciting Arizona Conference action at BRC Kyrene Lanes.

   Californian Brian Ballard opened the stepladder finals with a 199-150 win over first time finalist Zach Martinez.  Ballard then rolled past Cameron Smith, also off to a fine start this season, 190-181, before King stopped Ballard 233-211 in the semifinal.

   Top seed DJ Sloan was appearing in his 3rd title match of the season, having previously won in his hometown of Las Vegas.  This time, though, King remained in control the whole match, and the 213-181 victory wrapped up the fourth win of the young season, and more notably, the 20th of his JBTcareer, making him only the fourth person in JBT history with 20+ titles, with plenty more likely to come.

   Lindsey Ailport opened the handicap division of the stepladder finals with a 219-210 over Marua Swaim.  Ailport then got by Justin Givler, the lone male in the finals, 253-218, before Phandanouvong edged her in the semifinals, 197-188.

  Phandanouvong's win set up an all-Jenny (or Jenni) title match, as she faced top seed Jenni Cahn for the win.  Cahn had bowled extremely well all day on the demanding chameleon lane condition, but Phandanouvong, the 2006 TPC champion, was able to edge Cahn  213-206, for her 2nd career JBT victory.

  Kyrene hosted the very first JBT event back in 1997, and as we near JBT event #600, they remain one of our best hosts, and we thank the whole crew at Kyrene for the years of support.  Matt Herbert and Tanner Hill picked up $50 scholarships as winners of the Impact Challenge, courtesy of Impact Pro shop, a great supporter of JBT.  Over $2,000 was awarded to the 81 bowler field- want in on the fun?  Come on out to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
