AMF IMPERIAL LANES

champs Sarah Boe & Ryan Gallagher

Female bowlers continued their unprecedented run in the scratch division this season, while a pair of high school teammates finished 1-2 in the handicap division, in exciting JBT "survivor" action at Seattle's Imperial Lanes.

After a cut to the top half after 5 games, our 'survivor' format creates do-or-die, low bowler out situations throughout the center.  Nobody experienced more of the survivor roller-coaster than Perry Crowell IV, who managed to survive round one with a 133 game, then get past a triple-overtime rolloff with Tyler Cruz without a strike, 8-7 on the third ball, only to lose to Sarah Boe in the round of 6 to a solid-8 pin in the tenth frame- ooof!

In the scratch division round of three, Boe advanced with a 248, and Daniel Caroll also moved on with a 201, while Cameron Weier bowed out in third with 181.  In the title match, Boe, who had been at or near the top of the leader board all day, rolled a clean game (as did Carroll), but caught two early doubles and hung on for a 212-203 win and the title.  With the win, Sarah becomes the second female to win an open scratch JBT event this season already, joining a slew of other female finalists who are way more than holding their own against the guys.

Handicap survivor action also produced tense action throughout the first four survivor rounds, and eventually the field was whittled to just three.  In that round, Fife High School teammates Bryan Switzer (216) and Ryan Gallagher (212) advanced over Kevin Harja (171), setting up a Fife-for-all finale.

In the title match, Gallagher remained in control throughout against last season's Invitational champ, and the 209-185 win was good for his first career JBT title.

Over $1,200 was awarded at the event, including $50 to Daniel Carroll who came-oh-so-close to the Powerbowl jackpot.  Want in on the fun?  Come on out to the next JBT event, it's as simple as that!
