2024 JBT Las Vegas Main Event- Handicap Singles

champ Preston Nasu & runner-up Ryden Hong

12 year-old Hawaiian Preston Nasu climbed from the 8-seed to victory, winning the handicap singles division of the 2024 JBT Las Vegas Main Event, hosted at the South Point Bowling Plaza, and presented by IAM Bowling, the Brands of Brunswick, JBT, and South Point.

After 14 games of challenging play, eight finalists advanced to a double-bracket stepladder.  Round one turned out to be Nasu's closest call, as he escaped from Andrew Lynnes 224-221.  Simultaneously, #7 Percila Garcia upset #6 Caden Sham 213-165.  In round two, Nasu stopped Spencer Leong 213-196, while eleven year-old Garcia rolled on 231-215 over Caytlen Oishi-Gascon.  The top two seeds, both well clear of the field, the stepped in, and both has their hands full.  In one match, #2 Ryden Hong barely escaped from Garcia 210-204, while in the other top seed Alyssa Randisi couldn't find a good look and Nasu took advantage for his third straight win, 231-200, setting up the all-aloha title match.

The title match went back and forth until the tenth frame.  Needing a double for the win, Ryden made a good shot but when the 4-pin didn't fall, Nasu claimed the win and the victory, and record $6,000 top scholarship prize.  Hong still earned a whopping $4,000 (plus much more from side event successes).  In total, a record-smashing $75,000 was earned by bowlers of all ages and skill levels from all over America, as well as Japan and Mexico!

Big thanks to all for attending, and our amazing sponsors, volunteers, and vendors for making an event of this scope possible.  We look forward to even bigger and better things at the 2025 Main Event, December 26-30 back at the South Point Plaza!
