A high-scoring event at Mira Mesa was greeted with sighs of relief, and as you can see above, two very happy winners.

In the scratch division, BJ Baker showed his veteran skills in rolling past Julian Bosley in match one, 243-173.  In an exciting round two match, Baker had the opportunity to advance over Philip Schwartz with a double in the tenth, but a crushing solid 7-pin on his second ball gave Philip the 204-201 win.  The tables turned on Schwartz in the next match however, when he couldn't get the strike he needed in the tenth, giving newcomer Josh Wilson a 184-166 win that advanced him to the title match.

Top qualifier Josh Blanchard had put on a clinic all day, averaging over 237 including 803 for games 2-4, and proving that a December ankle injury was history.  Wilson appeared to have early hope when Blanchard began the championship match with a 2-10 split, but Josh calmly picked it up and ran the next five strikes to put the match away.  Blanchard's 237-167 win was good for his second career JBT SW title, while Wilson settled for the runner-up spot in a very impressive JBT debut performance.   

The handicap division saw one of its highest cuts ever, which was just fine with Robert Page, who won the opening stepladder match 203-155 over Kyle Ruzylo.  Page was stopped in the next match by Anthony Stevenson 200-187, before Robert's sister Brittany avenged her brother's loss with a 234-168 win over Stevenson to advance to the title match. 

Top qualifier Paul Ospital had been at or near the top of the leaderboard all day, but Brittany was sending lots of pins to the 'ospital with her excellent bowling, which continued in the title match.  Her 214-170 win over Paul was good for the first title of her JBT SW career, while Paul was consoled by his second consecutive top-5 JBT SW finish.
