What are all these points about?

If you’re newer to us or just need a refresher, here’s the basics of what JBT points are for (all this is at every link above as well!):

1) Each Conference ends with an Invitational, with $1,000 for first place. To qualify for an Invitational, you must EITHER a) have TWO top-5 finishes in that Conference this season, OR b) be in the top 32 in points after the last regular season event in a Conference. That’s not easy. So, for Arizona, that’s after Best In The West, and for all the other Conferences, that’s after the Saturday tournament before the Invitational on Sunday. It often comes down to that last event to get enough points to get in (or out) of Invitationals.

2) If you’re in the top 5 in points going into a Conference’s Invitational, you get a bye into the matchplay round of that Invitational, which is a guaranteed scholarship spot.

The Invitationals themselves are all worth TRIPLE points. That’s big because:

3) To make the Touring Players Championship (TPC), our most prestigious event, you must EITHER a) finish in the top 20 in a Conference’s final points list (after the Invite) OR finish in the top 100 in the final All-Conference points list after the last Invitational (6/29). That’s not easy at all.

The TPC is our ‘Super Bowl’, bringing together the best and most frequent JBT bowlers together for a quick but massive weekend, featuring $2,800 for first. Check out details at the schedule page. Reserve both your rooms and Celebration Dinner spots now, and you can always change plans later.

4) The top 12 on the final All-Conference points list (plus Bowlers of the Year) earn a bye into the quarterfinals of the TPC (you ‘make the cut’ no matter what)!

5) To make the Elite TPC, held at the same time as TPC, you must finish in the top 32 on the final All-Conference points list. The Elite TPC features big bucks courtesy of Station Casinos, and each place higher you finish makes your Elite TPC path easier!

6) Each Conference, and All-Conference, also has its own Girls Scratch and U17 points, Invitationals, and TPC as well. The top 50% of each Conference’s U17 and Girls points lists makes their Invitational, and the top 15 in All-Conference Girls and U17 points make those TPCs.

It's very possible to qualify for a U17 and/or Girls Invitational, but not the ‘main’ Invitational, or vice versa.

Top point scorers in each division in each Conference become our All-Star Teams, and are presented their awards on stage at the TPC Celebration Dinner, affectionately called 'Bowling Prom'!

So, no matter where your points stand at, there’s always another ‘level’ to achieve, or your current level to defend. That’s why we say all season to get every point you can!

Or course, each JBT event is a self contained tournament with its own prizes fun and friends, so if you don’t bowl enough for points to matter or, hey, just don’t give a split, that’s cool too!
